Every year around the Spring Festival, Yantian Port experiences congestion and long queues due to the intensive shipments from exporters.
But this year due to the impact of the epidemic, the liquidation happened much earlier than in previous years!
According to Yantian International Container Terminal Co., Ltd., as the Spring Festival approaches, port ships have heavy loading and unloading tasks, and the number of container trailers entering the port has increased significantly.
Data show that on January 13, there were 23,000 truck trips in and out of Yantian Port, an increase of 30% from the daily average last month.
A freight forwarder said: “There is no place to store containers in the terminal. We have to wait for containers one by one to get on the ship before there is room to store the containers. Yantian Port Terminal is seriously out of stock and has suspended container inspection. Yantian Terminal notified verbally that ETB-7 has also The counter mechanism will continue to be tightened, and subsequent customers’ arrival at the counter will be delayed.”
According to reports, since late at night a few days ago, there has been a queue of container trucks heading to Yantian Port that stretches for several kilometers and is motionless.
The main reason for the congestion and warehouse explosion is that the Lunar New Year is approaching. A large number of factories in the Pearl River Delta are rushing to ship goods before the year. The goods are pouring into Yantian Port, resulting in a large increase in the workload of Yantian Port and serious congestion on the inbound road.
In view of this, Yantian Port District has issued an emergency notice on the afternoon of January 19: Starting from 0:00 on January 21, 2022, Yantian Port District will only accept exports for ETB-4 days (that is, within four days before the ship’s expected berthing date) Heavy boxes coming in!
The reservation quota for export heavy containers remains unchanged at 12,000 per day.
Foreign traders who went to Yantian Port years ago must pay attention to and track the status of their goods in a timely manner!
