The Spring Festival is already halfway over, and the seventh day of the Lunar New Year is also the day when some migrant workers start working. The editor here would like to send you a blessing: good luck in starting work, and money will be like a rabbit!
Textile companies face difficulties in starting work and recruiting workers
For textile workers, today is still a day to rest at home, and work will not start until at least the eighth day of the Lunar New Year. According to previous years, on the eighth day of the lunar month, people just go to sales departments and factories to set off work-starting firecrackers. Most people actually go to work on the tenth, twelfth day of the lunar month, or even after the Lantern Festival. The same is true this year. Workers will not actually start going to work until at least the eighth day of the Lunar New Year.
“Our factory started operations on the tenth day of the Lunar New Year because the factory is in Anhui and the workers are all local and can return to work early.” said a boss who specializes in stretch fabrics. The owner of the local Chunya Textile factory said that work would start on the 12th day of the Lunar New Year. There are many non-local workers in the factory, and they usually return to work late. There are also some migrant workers who choose to return to work after the 15th day of the first lunar month due to the custom in their hometown – “After the 15th day of the lunar month, the year is over.”
After the start of construction, the most important issue for textile enterprises is to solve the problem of recruiting workers. At the beginning of each year, there is a large turnover of personnel in each factory’s sales department, so there will be large-scale recruitment. The job hasn’t started yet, but the editor has already seen recruitment information all over the circle of friends. The editor found that the biggest gap in the market now is front-line textile technicians, such as skilled security workers, skilled turners, shaft workers, heddles, buckles, etc.
The wages for this type of work are mostly between 80 and 100 million per month, and are rising every year. But the textile boss said frankly: “It is still difficult to recruit workers. A skilled security worker needs to study for at least two years, and apprentices cannot even touch a wrench. Therefore, the overall wages of skilled security workers and turn-stoppers have increased.”
Consumption increased significantly during the Spring Festival and the economy improved
During the Spring Festival, the first wave of tourism peaks ushered in after the relaxation of epidemic policies. During the Spring Festival holiday, 308 million domestic tourists traveled across the country. The sales of supermarkets and supermarkets have steadily rebounded, and urban business districts and township markets are once again crowded with people. The demand for food, accommodation, travel, shopping and entertainment is concentrated, and market supply continues to be optimized, driving the festival economy to become more prosperous. By enhancing consumption capacity, improving consumption conditions, and innovating consumption scenarios, the consumer market will continue to recover this year, and China’s economic prospects will definitely become more promising.
Driven by the huge potential and vitality of the domestic consumer market, the textile and garment industry is bound to receive a certain boost. Residents’ spending power will increase, and the confidence of industry insiders will be boosted, showing a positive and optimistic attitude. After the new year, we will usher in the traditional peak season of “Gold, Three and Silver”, which is a period of rising consumption, and a “spark” is about to collide.
Weaving, printing and dyeing prices may rebound
In terms of weaving, most local factories have not yet started work. Some start work as early as the 10th day of the lunar month, while others start work as late as the 12th day of the lunar month, and some even later. Mainly due to the late return of non-local workers and the fact that many companies are still short of workers, they are currently mainly recruiting workers. Weaving factories are expected to resume work on a large scale in early February, but production capacity will actually increase in mid-February. Before the Spring Festival holiday, many companies said they had a lot of executable orders on hand and would have to wait until after the year to complete them. Some companies are busy with unfinished orders from the year before, and some are preparing for production in the peak season in the first half of the year. When these orders are completed, it will immediately enter the peak season, and the orders may be seamlessly connected. Therefore, it is expected that the textile market will enter an upward channel in the first half of the year.
In terms of printing and dyeing, Shengze Thermal Power Plant will resume gas supply at 16:00 on January 29 (the eighth day of the Lunar New Year). With the restoration of gas supply, the printing and dyeing plant will gradually resume operations. Similarly, printing and dyeing factories also have unfinished orders from the year before, so they will mainly focus on such orders after the start of production. The traditional peak season will also come later. In the fabric market, orders left before the year and new orders after the year will appear at the same time. Coupled with the slow increase in operating rates after the year, the possibility of production congestion increases. Generally speaking, the printing and dyeing industry will also see steady and upward trends.
All in all, driven by factors such as rising raw material prices and holding costs and improving market confidence, market forecasts are improving. But whether there will be a “Red February” in the textile market in the future will have to wait until after the Lantern Festival, when workers arrive at work and factories resume production.
