How to identify real silk and chemical fiber silk
Observe the gloss
The luster of real silk is soft and even, bright but not Dazzling; rayon fabrics have a bright luster, but are not soft and pleasing to the eye; polyester yarns have a uniform luster, but have sparkles or bright threads; nylon fabrics have a poor luster, as if they are coated with a layer of wax.
Feeling when touched
When you touch silk fabrics, there is a handle feeling, but other chemical fiber products do not. This feeling: rayon fabric is smooth and soft, but not stiff; cotton and silk fabrics are hard to touch but not soft.
Look closely at the creases
When the hand squeezes the silk fabric tightly and then releases it, its elasticity It is better to have no creases; rayon fabrics have obvious creases after letting go, and the creases are difficult to return to their original shape; nylon silk fabrics have creases, but they can slowly return to their original shape, so don’t be fooled by its illusion.
Test fiber tensile strength
Pull out a few fibers at the edge of the fabric and moisten them with your tongue , if it breaks easily in wet places, it means it is rayon. If it does not break in wet places, it is real silk. If the fiber has good strength in wet and dry conditions and is not easy to break, it is nylon or polyester. Silk.
Listen to the friction sound
Because the surface of silk is protected by sericin and is resistant to friction, it is really dry when Silk fabrics will emit a sound when they rub against each other, commonly known as silk chirping or silk chirping, while other chemical fiber products will make no sound.
